It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Matosinhos.

Praia do Aterro Beach discloses a very extensive sand of about 1,1 Km, situated opposite to refinery industrial complex of .
Rocks scattered offshore can cause some sea agitation, attracting many surfing fans.
To the south lies the Ribeira da Boa Nova1 near a rock formation.
The access is granted through Avenida da Liberdade2.
