About the Beach

What is Praia da Ursa Beach?

It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Sintra.

Praia da Ursa Beach acquired its name due to a legend called 1.
The sand is long, reasonably wide and surrounded by cliffs. It is located about 1 Km to north of the 2.
Already in the water there are two huge rocky formations known by Ursa and Gigante.
During heavy rainfall may be seen a waterfall flowing from the Ribeira da Ursa3 at the north side of the beach, where there's also a small cave.
The best access is done via a dirt road at the south area, coming from Estrada do Cabo da Roca. The way down is of extreme difficulty and it's recommended only for the most experienced trekkers.

This is an unbelievably scenic beach but a pretty treacherous hike to get to. It's also very rough and dangerous for swimming BUT the view is amazing.
