About the Beach

What is Praia de Fornelos e Promontório de Montedor Beach?

It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Viana do Castelo.

Praia de Fornelos and Promontório Montedor Beach, or Praia de Fornelos Beach, has a small sized sand. Rocks surround the sand protecting it from the wind.
Along the seaside there are many submerged rock formations, during high tide.
This is a place not to be missed by archeology lovers, because here one finds the Gravuras Rupestres de Montedor1 from the , and ancient salt extraction sinks of the Middle Age.
The access is done by the 2, turning west at Montedor village.
