About the Beach
What is Praia de São Sebastião Beach?
It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Mafra.
Praia de São Sebastião Beach acquired its name due to the Capela de São Sebastião1 built in the beginning of the nineteenth-century, on top of the south cliff.
The sand assumes the shape of a thin strip of sand that gets nearly all immersed during high tide.
Access is done by a stairway in the south area that, halfway through, has a small balcony to appreciate the views.
